Utah Republican Native American Caucus Leadership Changes

RICHFIELD, Utah — 29 August 2026 — During their quarterly Pow Wow and Convention, Chief Joseph Levi tendered his resignation from the role of President of the Utah Republican Native American Caucus (“Republican Natives”). He remains a member in good standing of the organization and maintains his position as Chairman of the Republican Buffalo Committee. (The Republican Buffalo Committee is a standing committee within Republican Natives which is comprised entirely of members of Native American tribes.)

With Chief Joseph Levi’s resignation, the position of President falls to the current Vice-President, William “Bill” Olsen. When asked, Chief Joseph Levi said, “Bill and I have been friends for several years (predating the formation of Republican Natives) and have fought many battles together. I know him to be a man of integrity and a friend of Native Americans. He is a conservative Republican with unwavering standards and morals. I have seen Bill’s strategic plan for the organization, and he has my full support and endorsement in this role.”

President William “Bill” Olsen had this statement:
“I am honored to accept the presidency of the Utah Republican Native American Caucus following the departure of our friend and former president, Chief Joseph Levi.

“I thank Joe for his leadership, dedication, and service. He helped build an important foundation, and I wish him every success as he moves forward.

:As president, my commitment is clear: We will strengthen this caucus, expand its statewide presence, and ensure that Native Republicans have a respected and influential voice within the Utah Republican Party and throughout Utah government.

“We will build meaningful relationships with Utah’s Native communities and eight federally recognized tribal nations. We will identify, encourage, and prepare Native Republicans for positions of leadership, public service, and elected office. We will also work with Republican leaders and elected officials to promote greater understanding of the concerns, priorities, traditions, and contributions of Utah’s Native people.

“This caucus will be built upon four principles: relationships, representation, leadership, and influence.

“We welcome Native Americans from every tribal background, as well as all Utahns who support our mission, the Constitution, individual liberty, limited government, personal responsibility, and the principles of the Utah Republican Party.

“We have important work ahead of us. I accept this responsibility with humility, optimism, and determination — and I invite every person who believes in our mission to join us.

“Together, we will make certain that Utah’s Native Republican voice is not merely heard, but respected.”
