President Donald Trump hosted an event for Native American Code Talkers at the White House on Monday, 27 November 2017, honoring war heroes who used their native language to secure communications during World War I and World War II.

President Trump referred to these Natives as “special people” who have an ultimate “love of the country”. Additionally, he acknowledged the history of the Native Peoples in the United States, and at the same time called out Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-Massachusetts) for claiming to be “part Native American” in the past.

“You were here long before any of us were here.”

The Code Talkers called for a museum to built to educate children on the important part of history played by patriotic Native Americans. President Trump said he would help them do. “You deserve it.”

Today, only 13 Navajo Code Talkers remain to share their stories.

“Mr. President, we know you’ll succeed. America is in good hands! You have all top Marine Corp generals as your assistants here, so we know that we’re in good hands!”
