Secretary Bob McEntee reported

Vice-President Bill Olsen

Bill is out of the state an is excused for in-person attendance tonight. He is attending electronically, but does not have a report this evening.

Chief Joseph Levi

The Chief Reported on agenda item 6 (the need to collect birthday and/or Voter ID Number from existing members to be in compliance with UT GOP Bylaws.

He commented on the upcoming misnamed UT GOP bylaw proposal to “build relationships with auxiliaries” and detailed that the true disconnect with auxiliaries began with (1) removing their vote from the UT GOP Executive Committee, (2) adjourning SCC meetings before they are allowed to provide their reports, and (3) cherry-picking who can and cannot report at the UT GOP Convention (at the last convention, College Republicans were allowed to report, and given significant stage time; Republican Natives, despite telling Emily Brown (in her role as Stage Director) that we were there, at the state, ready to report, but not being acknowledged or allowed to report to the body.

The Chief reiterated that the UT GOP has many stated goals and objectives, only one of which is to “help get ‘republicans’ elected”. Requiring a different set of goals/objectives of auxiliaries not only removes their ability to best realize their stated goals and objectives, but removes time and resources from being able to do so. When questioned about this, the Chief stated that all of the Tribal Leadership entities in the state are Socialist. Vocally going against Tribal Leadership and even registering as a ‘republican’ usually gets one shunned from involvement in tribal government and tribal activities. Rather than helping elect any particular person or persons, our objective is to give a conservative voice to those Natives who otherwise cannot voice their conservatives views, and to help share the Republican Platform values with Natives, to help turn the opinion of tribal members. The fact that non-natives in positions of power in the UT GOP do not see this is exactly why auxiliaries exist.

Chief Joseph thanked those assembled for their attendance and support of the years – not only in him, but in the goals, objectives, and traditions of Republican Natives.

Lastly, Chief Joseph resigned from his position as President of Republican Natives, effective at the adjournment of this meeting. He stated that he will remain a member both of the organization, but also as a member of the Republican Buffalo standing committee. Under our bylaws, the latter allows him to retain his title of “Chief”. Vice-President Bill Olsen will assume the role of President of the organization and will take our seat on the SCC. Chief Joseph sent a text to UT GOP Chairman Rob Axon indicating the same.

Numerous objections to Chief Joseph’s resignation were noted for the record, and the Chief thanked them again for their support. He went on to share that he had been friends with Bill Olsen for several years (since before the beginning of the organization), has seen Bill’s strategic plan, and has his full support and endorsement.
